C12 = 1 mg/ L test item
Details on test conditions:
Based on the results of the non-GLP range-finder the test solutions were prepared in
ISO medium at the definitive theoretical concentrations.
A control was set up with the test medium only. There were 4 replicates for each treatment and for the
control. 5 daphnids were introduced in each replicate (each one containing 50 mL of test solution).
Organisms were maintained at temperature in the range of 18°C to 22°C and light intensity under 300
lux (according OECD 202) with a light:dark cycle of 16 hours light and 8 hours dark.
Daphnids were not fed during the test. The test vessels must not be aerated during the test. The test
will be carried out without adjustment of pH.
After 24 and 48 hours, the number of immobile daphnids in each replicate and abnormal appearance
and behaviour were recorded.
pH and dissolved oxygen were recorded at the beginning and the end of the test.
Reference substance (positive control):
yes

Details on results:
The aim of this study was to assess the effects of the test item “Lithium Iodide Anhydrous” on the reproductive output of Daphnia magna over a period of 48 hours under static conditions according to OECD Guideline 202 (April 2004).
Daphnia magna is a freshwater crustacean that is recommended by the OECD Guideline 202.
The acute effects of “Lithium Iodide Anhydrous” at the definitive theoretical concentrations of 0; 0.0625; 0.125; 0.250; 0.500 and 1.0 mg test item.L-1 to survival and reproduction of Daphnia magna were investigated under laboratory conditions.
Since the deviation between the measured concentrations and the nominal concentrations was withinthe range of ± 20 %, analysis of the results was based in the nominal concentrations.
The EC50 values were based on the nominal concentrations.

Conclusions:
The aim of this study was to assess the effects of the test item “Lithium Iodide Anhydrous” on the immobilisation output of Daphnia magna over a period of 48 hours under static conditions according to OECD Guideline 202 (April 2004).
Daphnia magna is a freshwater crustacean that is recommended by the OECD Guideline 202. The acute effects of “Lithium Iodide Anhydrous” at the definitive theoretical concentrations of 0; 0.0625; 0.125; 0.250; 0.500 and 1.0 mg test item.L-1 were investigated under laboratory conditions.

Since the deviation between the measured concentrations and the nominal concentrations was within the range of ± 20 %, analysis of the results was based in the nominal concentrations.

The EC50 values were based on the nominal concentrations:
EC50 - 24h = 0.67mg/L
EC50 - 48h = 0.42 mg/L
