RESULTS BAM FALLHAMMER

Preparation : Tested as received

SOP Reference : CTL SOP No. 413

Apparatus : BAM Fallhammer System 1

The sample was placed in the impact device and the 10 kg weight dropped from a height of 40 cm which is equivalent to 40 J. If an "explosion" was observed, the impact energy was reduced to 7.5 J and further tests conducted.

The sample was observed to exhibit no reaction at 40 J. 6 tests were performed. The test result is therefore considered Negative (-) (according to the EC Classification, Packaging & Labelling of Dangerous Substances in the European Union Part 2, Testing Methods, Jan 97).

RESULTS KOENEN TUBE

Preparation : Tested as received

SOP Reference : CTL SOP No. 413

Apparatus : Koenen Tube System 1

The sample did not exhibit an explosion during any of the tests. The test result is therefore considered Negative.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Not sensitiveness of the substance to impact. Not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement.
Executive summary:

The study was performed in order to determine the explosive properties of test item according to EU A.14 guideline.

A Bam FallHammer test was performed to measure the sensitiveness of substances to impact. A series of six tests were performed dropping the 10 kg mass from 0.40 m (40 J). No explosion was oberved. No further tests were performed.

Koenen tube tests were performed to determine the effect of heating the substance in a steel tube, closed by orifice plates with differing diameters of hole, to determine whether the substance is liable to explode under conditions of intense heat and defined confinement. A series of three tests with a 6.0 mm diameter orifice plate was first performed and no explosions were obtained. Then a second series of three tests was performed with a 2.0 mm diameter orifice plate and no explosion were obtained.

Description of key information

Not sensitiveness of the substance to impact. Not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive
