Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two algal growth inhibition studies in Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata were performed in accordance with OECD 201 guideline and GLP principles.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
2.5 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.23 mg/L

Additional information

The EC50 for growth rate reduction (ERC50: 0 -72h) was 2.5 mg/l with a 95 % confidence interval ranging from 1.0 to 6.1 mg/l.

The EC10 for growth rate reduction (ERC10: 0-72h) was 0.23 mg/l with a 95 % confidence interval ranging from -0.71 to 1.2 mg/l.

The NOEC for growth rate reduction corresponded with an average exposure concentration of 0.08 mg/l.

The testsubstance concentration was not stable during the exposure period (because of hydrolysis). It is not possible to avoid degradation in an algae test as it is a static test and cannot be performed under semi-static or flow-through conditions. The reported endpoints should be interpreted as worst-case endpoints, i.e., all observed toxicity is attributed to the testsubstance (at its measured concentration) and not to the degradation products.
