RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
- Mean measured water solubility for the test substance concentrations in samples processed from the treated test vessel stirred and equilibrated at a mean temperature of 20 ± 1 °C for 24, 48 and 72 were 12.6 ± 0.4 mg/L by TOC analysis (see Table 4, attached) and 26.3 ± 1.3 mg/L by phosphorus analysis (see Table 6, attached).
- The replicate determinations of TOC analysed samples gave a percent difference of 3.94 % between hours 24 and 48 and 4.00 % difference between hours 48 and 72.
- The replicate determinations of ICP-OES analysed samples had a percent difference of 4.63 % between hours 24 and 48 and 6.90 % difference between hours 48 and 72.
- All percent determinations values were within the protocol criteria for determining the test system had attained water solubility equilibrium, and the test was terminated after the confirmation percent difference.
- Representative TOC combustion profiles of solubility samples are presented in Figure 4 (attached).
- Representative phosphorus emission spectra of solubility sample are presented in Figure 6 (attached).
- The pH of the dilution water used to prepare the test system vessels was 8.32 at a mean temperature of 20 ± 1 °C. The measured pH of an aliquot from the treated test vessel stirred and equilibrated at a temperature of 20 ± 1 °C for 24, 48, and 72 hours was 8.32, 8.47, and 8.48, respectively. The measured pH of an aliquot from the negative control stirred and equilibrated at 20 ± 1 °C for 24, 48, and 72 hours was 8.30, 8.45, and 8.45.
Conclusions:
The mean water solubility of the 24, 72 and 96 hour intervals (n = 9) of the test substance at a mean of 20 ± 1°C was determined to be 12.6 ± 0.4 mg/L by TOC and 26.3 ± 1.3 mg/L by ICP-OES.

GUIDELINE

A study was performed to estimate the water solubility of the test item in freshwater. The study was performed based in part on procedures in the U.S. EPA Product Properties Test Guidelines, OPPTS 830.7840, Water Solubility: Column Elution Method; Shake Flask Method and OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals, 105: Water Solubility.

 

METHODS

The water solubility of the test substance in freshwater at a mean of 20 ± 1 °C was determined using the slow stir method. Non-treated and replicate treated solubility samples were collected after every 24 hours of slow-stirring and analysed using total organic carbon (TOC) analysis and ICP-OES analysis.
