Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
other:
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Endpoint:
self-heating substances / mixtures
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is completely molten at 160°C
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water

Description of key information

Non-flammable.

No pyrophoricity.

Not self-heating.

No flammability on contact with water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Flash point: 286 °C at 1013 hPa (Cleveland open cup)

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification:

According to EC 1907/2006 Annex XI only the flammability of liquids is deduced from the flash point. For this solid substance a flash point was determined (286 °C at 1013 hPa) because the substance melts at relative low temperatures. Therefore the flammability in this case could be deduced from the flash point. The substance is not flammable.

Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.

The substance is a solid with a melting point < 160 °C. Therefore the substance is not self-heating.
