Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Effects on fertility

Effect on fertility: via oral route
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed
Dose descriptor:
NOAEL
1 000 mg/kg bw/day
Study duration:
subchronic
Species:
rat
Quality of whole database:
Klimisch 1
Effect on fertility: via inhalation route
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Effect on fertility: via dermal route
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information

IMB is of low toxicity in acute toxicity in an acute oral study. A reproductive toxicity screening study is available for the closely related analogue, EMB, which showed no evidence of effects on fertility (NOAEL 1000mg/kg bw/day). Therefore, additional animal studies to investigate potential reproduction toxicity are not scientifically justified.

Effects on developmental toxicity

Description of key information

Toxicity to reproduction: other studies

Description of key information

Ne effects observed

Additional information

IMB is of low toxicity in acute toxicity in an acute oral study. A reproductive toxicity screening study is available for the closely related analogue, EMB, which showed no evidence of effects on fertility (NOAEL 1000mg/kg bw/day). Therefore, additional animal studies to investigate potential reproduction toxicity are not scientifically justified.

Justification for classification or non-classification

A 54 day repeat dose study with reproductive / developmental toxicity screening with the read-across substance EMB showed no toxicity. IMB shows no toxicity in any other studies. Consequently this substance will not be classified as toxic to reproduction.
