Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
08 September 2017 to 22 November 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Moisture (wt %):
0.89
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

- The test material sample discoloured to black, then ignited with a small, localised, orange flame which exstinguished on removal of the ignition source.

- As the sample only briefly ignited during the preliminary test, no further testing was required.

Interpretation of results:
other: Not classified in accordance with EU criteria
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this study the test material was considered, not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions.

In the preliminary test, the test material sample discoloured to black, then ignited with a small, localised, orange flame which extinguished on removal of the ignition source. As the sample only briefly ignited during the preliminary test, no further testing was required.

Under the conditions of this study the test material was considered, not highly flammable.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Flammability (solids)

The flammability of the test material was investigated in accordance with the standardised guideline EU Method A.10, under GLP conditions. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
