The surface tension of a solution of Melonal in ultrapure water (0.46 g/L, 90% of the saturation concentration) was determined according to the OECD Guideline No. 115, using the ring method. Other than the test product the solution did contain a not quantified amount of degradation product of the test substance.
The result is: 52.9 mN/m
Therefore, according to this test, it was considered that the test material and/or the degradation product are surface active (surface tension < 60 mN/m).
