Description of key information

The melting point determination of2-hydroxynaphthalene-1-carbaldehyde [(2-hydroxy-1-naphthyl) methylene]hydrazone(CAS No. 2387-03-3) was done following OECD Guideline 102 and using metal block/capillary apparatus. The test item showed colour change from yellow to orange and then to red after 200°C. It started vaporising from 302.5°C and started moving upwards in capillary till 315°C. It condensed at the upper part of the capillary that was outside the metal block apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean sublimation temperature range was found to be 302.5°C -315°C at 981.8hPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
301 °C
