Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Two studies on the acute toxicity to aquatic invertebrates and algae have been conducted. Due to the very low water solubility of zirconium bis(hydrogen phosphate) the tests have been conducted using a saturated solution of 10 mg/L. No effects occurred within the range of solubility. Even though the test have not been conducted up to 100 mg/L it can be assumed that no effects would occur up to 100 mg/L either. This can be concluded using the disseminated data given for Zr compounds at the ECHA homepage. All data on aquatic toxicity demonstrate that the Zr compounds show no aquatic toxicity up to 100 mg/L. Especially, since data are given for soluble Zr compounds and zirconium bis(hydrogen phosphate) is insoluble compared to the disseminated data. Therefore, a classification on aquatic toxicity is not required (see MERAG fact sheet 08 "CLASSIFICATION FOR EFFECTS ON THE AQUATIC ENVIRONMENT OF METALS/METAL COMPOUNDS AND ALLOYS).
