Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Growth-corrected and lipid-normalised kinetic BCF values of dicumyl peroxide were determined to be 493 and 747 L/kg for 3 and 15 µg/L (nominal concentrations) in a study according to OECD guideline 305 (2012). The value of 747 L/kg is more robust for analytical reasons and should be taken forward to the hazard assessment.

Additional information

In an older bioaccumulation study (OECD guideline 305 C) of limited reliability, BCF values were determined to be 137–1470 (0.01 mg/L) and 181–667 (0.001 mg/L). These results are supported by QSAR calculations. Not all of them are independent estimates (since dicumyl peroxide being contained in the reference data set), but truly independent VEGA read-across model calculated a BCF of 517. Accordingly, the aggregate information shows that dicumyl peroxide has only a low to moderate bioaccumulation potential.
