Lanolin fatty acids is a complex mixture (UVCB) of substances which is a brown waxy solid at 20 °C.

It is not classified has dangerous or hazardous according to Dangerous Substances Directive (67/548/EEC) or to CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 respectively based on the following.

It has a melting temperature estmated to be in the range 35 °C - 65 ° at 101.6 kPa and a boiling temperature estimated to be in the range 320 °C - 430 ° at 101.6 kPa. It has a water solubility of ca. 0.21 mg/l.

The flash point was determined using a closed cup equilibrium method, Method A9 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC (which constitutes Annex V of Council Directive 67/548/EEC).The flash point of the test material has been determined to be 218 °C and the vapour pressure of the test material has been determined to be < 7 mbar at 20 °C.

The relative density of the test material has been determined to be 0.908 at 20 °C.

It is not flammable and a its self-ignition temperature was not carried out as its melting point is below 160 °C.

Viscosity was considered inappropriate since the substance is solid and its dissociation constant was not conducted as it was deemed scientifically not possible to perform the test.

The determination of water solubility was carried out using the flask method, Method A6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008.

The water solubility of the substance has been determined to be 0.21 mg/l of solution at room temperature.

The substance is a UVCB. The Log Pow was calculated for main components and it varied from 4.43 to more than 13.87. However, Since the substance is rapidly biodegradable it is potentially expected not to bioaccumulate in the environment.
