PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on the available information on the fate and behaviour of the sodium 3-(allyloxy)-2-hydroxypropanesulphonate is considered to fulfil the vP criteria as no relevant degradation was observed in a simulation study according OECD 309 within 60 days at 12 °C.

Results from the study on the partition coefficient indicated a low potential for bioaccumulation of the substance. Furthermore, it is considered to be quickly metabolised and excreted from organisms. Thus, no further testing on bioaccumulation is considered and based on the screening criteria 3-(allyloxy)-2-hydroxypropanesulphonate is assumed to not fulfil the B and/or vB criteria.

Findings in the toxicity on reproduction showed a relevant effect and therefore the substance is classified as Toxic to reproduction Cat. 2. Due to this findings 3-(allyloxy)-2-hydroxypropanesulphonate is considered to fulfil the T criteria according Annex XIII REACH.

Concluding on all available information 3-(allyloxy)-2-hydroxypropanesulphonate is not PBT/vPvB as the substance showed no potential for bioaccumulation.
