Additional information

Sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate is not readily biodegradable. However, this substance rapidly dissociates in water into 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, which is expected to undergo a fast degradation in the aquatic environment, based on the inherent biodegradability of the substance (99% biodegradation in 28 days) and its dissipation half-life in water/sediment systems of 29 days. Simulation testing on the biodegradation of the substance in sediment and soil was not deemed necessary considering the low adsorption potential of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid to solid particles (Koc = 56).
