Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

There is no information concerning the skin sensitising potential for n-Decyl methacrylate available. The results of skin sensitisation studies of the structurally closely related Isodecyl methacrylate (i-C10-Ester) are considered as representative for the skin sensitising toxicity of n-Decyl methacrylate (n-C10 -Ester).

Isodecyl methacrylate was demonstrated to be not sensitising in a fully valid GLP guideline study according to OECD 429. So we expect n-Decyl methacrylate to be a non-sensitiser as well.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
There is no information concerning the skin sensitising potential for n-Decyl methacrylate available. The results of skin sensitisation studies of the structurally closely related Isodecyl methacrylate (i-C10-Ester) are considered as representative for skin sensitising toxicity of n-Decyl methacrylate (n-C10 -Ester).
Isodecyl methacrylate was demonstrated to be not sensitising in a fully valid GLP guideline study according to OECD 429 (LLNA assay). So we expect n-Decyl methacrylate to be none sensitising as well.

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
There is no information concerning the skin sensitising potential for n-Decyl methacrylate available. The results of skin sensitisation studies of the structurally closely related Isodecyl methacrylate (i-C10-Ester) are considered as representative for the skin sensitising toxicity of n-Decyl methacrylate (n-C10 -Ester). Only one study available for Isodecyl methacrylate.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the criteria as of directive 1272/2008/EC, no classification is warranted.
