Viscosity was measured using an AR-G2 rheometer (TA Instruments, New Castle, DE). Temperature was controlled at desired temperature using a Peltier heating element. A 60 mm diameter parallel plate geometry was used. After sample loading, the sample was allowed an equilibration time of 6 min at each experimental temperature before the shear rate sweep measurements. Viscosities were measured at shear rates ranging from 1 to 100s-1. Data points at lower shear rates (<4 s-1) are considered unreliable because of the low torque and were not used to calculate the results. Two replicates of each temperature were performed.

Precision and accuracy: Based on 10 measurements of a silicon surfactant, the single-operator standard deviation has been found to be 2 -3 cP throughout the range 325 cP to 350 cP. Viscosity standards were used as references to get the accuracy statement. The test values were found to be within 95% confidence.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The viscosity of the substance ranged from 975.9 cP at 20°C to 267.7 cP at 40°C ( where 1 cP = 0.01 P = 1 mPa s)
Executive summary:

Viscosity determination of Agrol 3.6 was determined as a function of shear rate at 20°C and 40°C. The test method used is rotational viscometry in accordance with OECD Guidelines for The Testing of Chemicals, 114, May 12, 1981.

Sample is Newtonian at temperatures investigated. Viscosities measured in units of centipoise (1 cP = 0.01 P = 1 mPa s) ranged from 976 (±1.3) to 981 (±3.6) at 20°C and from 268 (±0.4) to 269 (±0.7) at 40°C.
