Description of key information

The substance is a black organic powder.

No endothermic peak corresponding to melting and/or boiling was recorded in tested temperature range from 25 °C to 450 °C; thermal decomposition of the test substance connected with mass loss started at the temperature of 279 °C.

Particle size distribution of the substance is characterized by MMD = 76.681 µm.

The substance has a high hydrophilic character, due to the presence of two sulphonic acid groups and one carboxylic group. Partition coefficient is log Pow = -1.64 at 20 °C and pH 6.35, thus corresponding to a very low concentration of substance in the n-octanol phase: even applying direct measurement to this phase, absorbance values were far below the lower detection limit.

The substance is very soluble in water, i.e. 154.35 g/l at 20 °C, due to the presence of a number of different ionisable groups, and has a relative density of 1.357 at 20 °C. The substance does not ignite and propagate combustion; no chemical groups associated with explosive and oxidising properties are present in the molecule.

The substance does not meet the criteria to be considered as a autoflammable / flammable / explosive / oxidising substance.
