Description of key information

The substance hydrolyses rapidly in contact with water. The hydrolysis product potassium hydroxide (CAS No. 1310-58-3) is classified with skin corrosion Category 1A according to CLP regulation 1272/2008 Annex VI. In addition, the analogous products potassium tert butylate (CAS No. 865-47-4) and potassium tert-amylate (CAS No. 41233 -93 -6) are both classified with skin corrosion Category 1A based on in vivo and in vitro data, respectively.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance hydrolyses rapidly in contact with water. The hydrolysis product potassium hydroxide (CAS No. 1310-58-3) is classified with skin corrosion Category 1A according toCLP regulation 1272/2008 Annex VI. In addition, the analogous products potassium tert-butylate (CAS No. 865-47-4) and potassium tert-amylate (CAS No. 41233 -93 -6) are both classified with skin corrosion Category 1A based on in vivo and in vitro data, respectively.

Thus potassium n-butylate is classified with skin corrosion Category 1A.
