Endpoint:
surface tension
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2008-03-04
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Guideline-conform study under GLP without deviations.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.5 (Surface Tension)
Version / remarks:
92/69/EWG, A.5 (Ringmethode)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
ring method
Key result
Surface tension:
71.9 - <= 72.7 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
1 000 mg/L
Conclusions:
From the experimental data obtained according to the guideline A.5 in Official Journal L 383 Part A, it can be concluded that the surface tension of the aqueous solutions at concentrations of 1 g/L, 0.5 g/L, 0.1 g/L, at 20°C are 71.9, 72.7, 72.7 mN/m respectively.
According to the interpretation of the results suggested in the A.5 official method, the test substance should be regarded as a non surface-active material.

Description of key information

71.9 mN/m at 20 °C, conc. 1000 mg/L
72.7 mN/m at 20 °C, conc. 500 mg/L
72.7 mN/m at 20 °C, conc. 100 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
72.7
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
100

Additional information

Should be regarded as a non surface-active substance.
