Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Experimental test results from both Surfadone LP300 (1 -dodecyl-2 -pyrrolidone) and the analogous substance Surfadone LP100 (1 -octyl-2 -pyrrolidone) were compared with QSAR predictions generated using SMILES input to the ECOSAR v1.11 module within the EPIwin (v4.11) program. QSAR estimates and extrapolations of test data were then used to fulfil chronic data requirements for LP300, with worst case estimates used to generate PNECs for use in exposure scenarios.

Additional information

Both extrapolation, using the difference in chronic and acute toxicity of LP100 to calculate the chronic toxicity of LP300 and QSAR estimation were used for the chronic toxicity. Results were similar for each approach, with the worst-case (lowest) result used as the chronic toxicity value for LP300.

Daphnia ChV is 0.04 mg/L for Ecosar class "Neutral Organic SAR".

Daphnia chronic NOEC from extrapolation was 0.046 mg/L
