Description of key information

The weight of juvenile fish exposed to N-(n-dodecyl)pyrrolydone in the Fish Earky Kife Stage test was the most sensitive parameter measured.

The EC10 of 0.018 mg/L was considered more reliable than the NOEC as it is based on the three relevant test concentrations and it includes a 95% confidence interval.

Both extrapolation, using the difference in chronic and acute toxicity of LP100 to calculate the chronic toxicity of LP300 and QSAR estimation were used for the chronic toxicity. Results were similar for each approach, with the worst-case (lowest) result used as the chronic toxicity value for LP300. Surfadone LP-300 did not induce significant effects on survival, hatching or growth at concentrations up to and including 0.5 mg/L in an eight-day Embryo and Sac-fry Stage test with Zebrafish. Fish ChV is 0.015 mg/L for Ecosar class "Amides". Experimental 8-day LC10 in the embryo/sac-fry stage study was 0.15 mg/L.

Long-term toxicity to fish was determined by performing a 35 -day Fish Early Life Stage test. This study resulted in an EC10 of 0.018 mg/L for weight as the most sensitive parameter.
