Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No acute toxicity occured within the range of solubility. Therefore, the test substance is with high probability not acutely harmful to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A test on the acute toxicity to fish of the actual test item is not available. However, data on a structural analogue (CAS 91081-53-7) are availble. The structutal analogue (Rosin, reaction products with formaldehyde) is the acid of the calcium salt . For read-across justification see Annex.

A GLP guideline study according to OECD 203 using Golden Orfe (Leuciscus idus) and CAS 91081-53-7 was conducted (limit test, SafePharm Laboratories Ltd. 1994). Due to the low solubility of the test item in the test medium, a water accomodated fraction was prepared using a loading rate of 1000 mg/L. No mortaility was observed throughout the study in the control or 1000 mg/L loading rate WAF. The 96 hour NOELR was determined to be ≥ 1000 mg/L and the 96 hour EL50 was > 1000 mg/L.

Therefore, the test substance is with high probability not acutely harmful to fish.
