Description of key information

In accordance with the guideline OECD 113 Sodium dimethyl 5-sulphonatoisophthalate showed exothermic decomposition from 425 °C (Method DSC, 3K/min).

Additional information

A study was conducted according to the guideline OECD 113 to investigate the thermal stability of Sodium dimethyl 5-sulphonatoisophthalate. Two samples and one reference substance was measured by the same controlled temperature programme. Under the conditions of the present study SIM-Ester showed exothermic decomposition from 425 °C (Method DSC, 3K/min).

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD), Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and UN Transport Regulation (EC) 440/2008 no classification and labelling is required for the endpoint thermal stability. In accordance with UN-Transport regulations Sodium dimethyl 5-sulphonatoisophthalate (SIM-Ester) has not to be classified as corrosive substance in Class 8.
