Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with point 1 of REACH Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for pyrophoric properties. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as in the daily use and handling of the test material, during which continuous exposure to air can occur, no spontaneous ignition is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that the test material possesses pyrophoric properties.
Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with point 1 of REACH Annex XI, it is considered justified to omit the testing for substances or mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases. Testing does not appear scientifically necessary as under conditions where the test material is in contact with water, no ignition and/or liberation of flammable gases is observed. The absence of structural alerts furthermore confirms that it is highly unlikely that the test material is flammable in contact with water.
Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
24 August 2021
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
The test material was used in its initial form.
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

In the Preliminary Screening Test the test material could not be ignited. Based on the results of the Preliminary Screening Test, no Burning Rate Test was performed.

The test material is considered not to be highly flammable.

Interpretation of results:
other: The test material is not considered to be highly flammable.
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of the study the test material was not highly flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test material was assessed according to EU Method A. 10 and in compliance with GLP.

During the study two parallel flammability preliminary tests were performed. The tests were negative.

Therefore, under the conditions of this study, the test material is not considered highly flammable.

Description of key information

Flammability (Solids or Gases) (Kiss 2021)

Under the conditions of the study the test material was not highly flammable.

Flammability (Contact with Water). waiver

Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids. waiver

Additional information

Flammability (Solids or Gases) (Kiss 2021)

The flammability of the test material was assessed according to EU Method A. 10 and in compliance with GLP. The study was awarded a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria set forth by Klimisch et al. (1997).

During the study two parallel flammability preliminary tests were performed. The tests were negative.

Therefore, under the conditions of this study, the test item is not considered highly flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
