Description of key information

Due to a range of Koc comprised between 535 and 1298, 2,2-bis(methylthio)propane (BMTP) is considered to have a low mobility in soil. Abiotic degradation of the test item can occur in soil. The key value is the arithmetic mean of the five Koc obtained in the study.

Additional information

The adsorption behaviour of 2,2-bis(methylthio)propane (BMTP) on soils was evaluated in a study performed in accordance with OECD testing guideline 106 and GLP requirements.

At the test conditions, the adsorption coefficient Koc was found to be in the range of 538-1298 in the different soils with the direct method.

Consequently 2,2-bis(methylthio)propane (BMTP) is considered to have a low mobility in soil. However, during the preliminary test, abiotic degradation was observed after 48h.
