First-aid measures

- General advice:

Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product. Symptoms of poisoning may even occur after several hours; therefore medical observation for at least 48 hours after the accident.

- Following inhalation:

Supply with fresh air and to be sure call for a doctor. In case of unconsciousness place patient stably in side position for transportation.

- Following skin contact:

Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.

- Following eye contact:

Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult a doctor.

- Following ingestion:

Seek medical treatment.

- Most important symptoms and effects: No further relevant information available.

Skin: After contact with this substance reddening and irritation of skin may occur.

Eyes: Irritation. Dust may irritate eyes mechanically.

Hazards and systemic effects: Strong irritating effect after breathing of dust and contact with eyes.

Possible routes of intake: Intake by swallowing or inhalation of dust.

Chronic effects: No chronic effects known.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media:

Water haze, Alcohol resistant foam, Fire-extinguishing powder, Carbon dioxide

- Unsuitable extinguishing media:

No restriction in large fires.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

High risk of dust explosions! In case of fire, the following can be released: Nitrogen oxides (NOx) Carbon monoxide (CO) Hydrogen chloride (HCl) Chlorine (Cl2)

- Advice for fire fighter: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Chemical resistant protective suit. Under the protective suit a fire protective suit according to EN 469 should be applied.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear protective clothing.

Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Do not breathe dust.

Access only for trained personnel with personal protective equipment.

Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol.

Remove persons from danger area.

Keep away unprotected persons.

Avoid formation of dust

- Environmental precautions:

Keep contaminated washing water and dispose of appropriately.

Inform respective authorities in case of seepage into water course or sewage system.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Pick up mechanically. If formation of dust cannot be avoided use respiratory filter device. Possible formation of explosive dust/air mixtures.

Handling and storage

- Precautions for safe handling:

Empty containers must not be used for other products. Nitrogen blanketing required for large scale operations with this compound due to low minimum ignition energy. Contaminated protective equipment should be cleaned before taking it off. Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Fill only in dedicated and assigned containers. Keep containers tightly sealed.

Information about fire - and explosion protection: High risk of dust explosions!

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles: Store in a dry location, keep away from humidity. Store in a cool location.

Corrosion of metals: Test method according to CLP is not applicable (solid material at 55°C). It should generally be borne in mind that there is a possibility of corrosion on contact with this material. Resistance should be checked in each individual case.

Information about storage in one common storage facility: Do not store together with alkalis (caustic solutions). Store away from alcohols. Store away from flammable substances. Store away from oxidising agents.

Maximum storage temperature: approx. +30 °C (relevant for quality reasons)

Acceptable storage time: No data available.

Exposure controls / personal protection

This product is exclusively dedicated for the application as isolated and transported intermediate under strictly controlled conditions according to Article 18 of Regulation EC 1907/2006 (REACH-Regulation).

Take care of sufficient ventilation. Avoid formation of dust. Waste gases should be led into the atmosphere only via appropriate separators, scrubbers or incinerators.

General protective and hygienic measures:

Contaminated protective suit shall be cleaned before taking it off. Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work. Store protective clothing separately.

Respiratory protection: Short term filter device: Particle fi lter. The fi lter grade (P1 - P3) has to be established depending on work-place related limit values and the actual exposition.

Body protection: Use dust-proof protective suit. Selection of personal protective suits depending on amount and concentration of hazardous material and on possible exposition at the working place.

Stability and reactivity

Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: High danger of dust explosions.

Sensitive to Temperature: Protect from heat.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:

Reacts with amines

Reacts with water

Reacts with organic substances

Exothermic or explosive reactions with all materials mentioned.

High risk of dust explosions!

Explosive reactions with: Aliphatic alcohols, Benzyl amine, Hydrazin hydrate

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents. Water. Inorganic and organic bases. Alcohols. Ammonia. Amines.

Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon monoxide. Nitrogen oxides. Hydrogen chloride (HCl). Chlorine. Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide

Disposal considerations

Recommendation: Must be specially treated adhering to official regulations.

European waste catalogue: 07 07 99: wastes not otherwise specified.

Uncleaned packaging: Recommendation: Packagings that may not be cleansed are to be disposed of in the same manner as the product.

Biological waste water treatment: Discharge into waste water channels and biological treatment plants only after clearence with the operating company and in accordance with local Authority approval.
