Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Appearance:

The test chemical was observed to be organic colorless oily liquid.

Melting point:

Freezing point of test chemical was determined to be 3.5 °C.

Boiling Point:

Boiling point of test chemical was determined to be in range 237-238 °C.

Density:

Density of chemical test chemical was determined to be 0.976 g/cm3 at temperature 20 °C.

Particle size distribution:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form

Vapour pressure:

The vapour pressure of test chemical at temperature 25 °C was estimated to be 0.023 mmHg (3.09 Pa).

Partition coefficient:

The partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the test chemical was determined to be 3.49 dimensionless. Based on this value, chemical can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

Water solubility of chemical test chemical was determined to be 999 mg/L at temperature 25 °C. From this solubility value it is concluded that chemical is moderately soluble in water.

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for test chemical was predicted to be 34.9 mN/m.

Flash point:

The flash point of test chemical was observed to be 100 °C. Based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point > 60°C, hence the chemical is considered to be non-flammable.

Auto flammability:

Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

The flash point of test chemical was observed to be at 100 °C. Based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point greater than 60°C, hence the chemical is considered to be non-flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

Additional information

Appearance:

The test chemical was observed to be organic colorless oily liquid.

From other authoritative databases and handbooks the test chemical physically appear as a thick colorless to yellow oily liquid having thymol like odor and characteristic pungent odor.

Melting point:

Freezing point of test chemical was determined to be 3.5 °C.

Further from other authoritative databases the Freezing point of test chemical was determined to be in range of 0- 3.5 °C.

Boiling Point:

Boiling point of test chemical was determined to be in range 237-238 °C.

From other reliable sources & authoritative databases it is concluded that boiling point of chemical is 118 -122 °C at 18 mmHg, 93 °C at 3 mmHg, and in the range between 234 to 238 °C.

Density:

Density of chemical test chemical was determined to be 0.976 g/cm3 at temperature 20 °C.

From other reliable sources & authoritative database density of test chemical is concluded in the range between 0.974 - 0.980 g/cm3, 0.9688 g/cm3 at temperature 22 °C, and 0.976 g/cm3 at temperature 25 °C.

Particle size distribution:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for test chemical was predicted to be 34.9 mN/m.

Supporting data from modelling database indicates the surface tension of test chemical as 35.0±3.0 mN/m.

Flash point:

The flash point of test chemical was observed to be 100 °C.

To support the above study data from other handbook was reviewed in that the flash point of test chemical was observed to be 106.7 °C.
