Endpoint:
flammable solids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid
Endpoint:
pyrophoric liquids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid

Description of key information

The substance has a flashpoint of 22°C and a boiling point of 134.1°C, indicating that it is a flammable liquid. With regards to pyrophoric properties, evaluation of the structural features of the substance revealed that the substance does not contain any chemical group that might lead to spontaneous ignition a short time after coming into contact with air (ECHA guidance R.7.1.10.5, 2015). Additionally, the auto-ignition temperature of the substance is higher than room temperature (198°C), therefore the substance is not regarded as pyrophoric.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flashpoint of 22°C (so lower than 23°C), and the boiling point of 134.1°C (so higher than 35°C), the substance needs to be classified as highly flammable liquid (H225), according to the CLP Regulations (EC) No 1272/2008 and its updates.
