DSC measurements in aluminium crucibles with a hole showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 150 -225°C with onset temperatures between 206.12°C and 211.83°C. A second endothermal effect was observed in the temperature range of 320 -345°C with an unsteady onset. From the results of DSC measurements it was concluded that the test item had a melting range of 206 -212°C. The second endothermal effect in the temperature range 320 -345°C was not interpreted as boiling since approx. 50% of the test item mass remain as black residue and the DSC-measurement in a closed glass crucible showed an exothermal signal in the temperature range of 280°C and 350°C. It was concluded that the test item had no boiling point. The test item decomposed prior to boiling.

Description of key information

The melting point /melting range are determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) according to EU Method A.1 and OECD Guideline 102. The test item 4H-Pyrazino[2,1-a]isoquinolin-4-one, 1,2,3,6,7,11b-hexahydro-, phosphate (1:2) had a melting range 206-212°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
206 °C
