Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
4 October 2010 to 6 December 2010
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP Compliant, guideline study, available as unpublished report, acceptable with restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: OECD 101/A1 Melting Freezing Temperature
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
other: Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) using the procedure specified in ASTM E537-86
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
250 °C

Diammonium hexachloropalladate has been determined to decompose from 250 °C (523K). Similar thermographic profiles were obtained using air and nitrogen atmospheres, this indicates that the observed decomposition in both determinations is probably thermal and not oxidative. There were no signs of melting in determinations 1 and 2, however the test item had changed colour from a brown/red powder to a grey powder. In determination 3 the test item was heated to 250 °C after which the test item appearance was a red powder.

Conclusions:
Diammonium hexachloropalladate has been determined to decompose from 250 °C
Executive summary:

This is a GLP compliant, guideline study which is considered suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. Diammonium hexachloropalladate has been determined to decompose from 250 °C.

Description of key information

Additional information

The result is taken from a GLP-compliant, guideline study which is considered suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint (Tremain and Atwal 2011). Diammonium hexachloropalladate has been determined to decompose from 250 °C.
