Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

5-Nitrobenzimidazolon TF ( 1,3-dihydro-5-nitro-2H-benzimidazol-2-one) was not a skin sensitiser in the LLNA when tested at the highest test item concentration (25%) in DMSO, which can be technically used. Supportive data is given by the negative results in the Guinea Pig Maximisation Test of N-Methylnitrolon ( 5-Nitro-1-methyl-1,3-dihydrobenzoimidazol-2-on), a substance of similar structure.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
5-Nitrobenzimidazolon TF was not a skin sensitiser in the LLNA when tested at the highest test item concentration (25%) in DMSO, which can be technically used.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Available data do not meet criteria for classification and labelling of REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008 related to skin sensitisation. Therefore classification and labelling is not warrantable.
