Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

(R)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)-propanoic acid (CAS 94050-90-5) was tested for acute toxicity to fish by using an acute fish toxicity test under GLP according to OECD Guideline 203 and EU Method C.1. The results of the test showed no mortality, neither in the 100 mg/l test item nor in the control group. Also no sublethal effects were noticed. Therefore, the LC50 (96h) was determined to be > 100 mg/l and the NOEC to be 100 mg/l.

Potassium (R)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propionate, when dissolved in water becomes equal to the test item (R)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propanoic acid and toxicity to fish of the potassium salt is therefore equal to the toxicity to fish measured for the acid. It can therefore be concluded by read-across without reasonable doubt that the LC50 (96h) of potassium (R)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)propionate is >100 mg/L and the NOEC is 100 mg/L.
