Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

LC50: 156 mg/kg dry weight EDTA. Toxicity of HEDTA on soil macroorganisms is considered likely to be low based on read-across to the EDTA study. Expressed as HEDTA-H3 the Ec50 would be 148 mg/kg soil dw

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for soil macroorganisms:
148 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

There was no data available regarding toxicity of HEDTA to soil macroorganisms except arthropods. Read-across to studies on a structural analogue of the substanc, EDTA, indicates low toxicity to earthworms. The studies were based on iron phosphate based molluscicides which included EDTA. A 14 day LC50 of EDTA to earthworms was estimated to be 156 mg/kg dry weight soil.
