Additional information

Little information is available on bioaccumulation of strontium in the terrestrial environment by plants and animals.

Heine and Wiechen (1984) reported concentration factors for strontium for pasture plants and the most important agricultural products, namely cereal grain, maize, rape, potatoes, asparagus, beet and beet leaves. Most of the values ranges within an order of magnitude between 0.1 and 1.0 (ratio of Conc./kg fresh plant over Conc./kg dry soil). The medians of all concentration factors of pasture plants and grain were 0.32 and 0.36, respectively.
