Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The bioconcentration factor (BCF) of ethyl isocyanoacetate was calculated by the EPI (Estimation Programs Interface) Suite™, a Windows®-based suite of physical/chemical property and environmental fate estimation programs developed by the EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention Toxics and Syracuse Research Corporation (SRC).
Following results for the bioconcentration factor BCF (L/kg wet weight; upper, mid and lower trophic level) were obtained:
Bioaccumulation Estimates (BCFBAF v3.01):
Log BCF from regression-based method = 0.500 (BCF = 3.162 L/kg wet-wt)
Log Biotransformation Half-life (HL) = -1.8371 days (HL = 0.01455 days)
Log BCF Arnot-Gobas method (upper trophic) = 0.078 (BCF = 1.196)
Log BAF Arnot-Gobas method (upper trophic) = 0.078 (BAF = 1.196)
log Kow used: 0.91 (estimated)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
3.162 L/kg ww

Additional information

Data is available from a reliable QSAR model.

Bioaccumulation of ethyl isocyanoacetate is not expected since the criterion for considering substances as being not bioaccumulative (i.e. unlikely to have a BCF > 2,000) are met as can be derived from BCF calculation. No further testing is required.
