Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One value for chronic toxicity to invertebrates was available and this was obtained from the MITI database. Notwithstanding the fact the study could not be assigned due to lack of information, the NOEC was taken as ¿ 4.2 mg/L and this reliability is supported by the relatively high values from the acute studies, (geometric mean of daphnid EC50s approximately 8 times higher). The concentrations used in the study were not extremely low and HMD is highly soluble in water so nominal concentrations could be accurately made up in the laboratory. Moreover, in a recent study on algae, the test substance was found to be stable over a 72 hour period in the presence of algae and therefore the nominals concentrations used are expected to be an accurate estimate of actual concentrations. In a weight of evidence approach, this study can be considered as acceptable for the purpose of risk assessment.
