Volunteers were exposed for 6 hours/day; 15-50 days to low concentrations of HF and irritant effects were assessed.

No systemic effects were observed. Mild discomfort (slight eye stinging, slight stinging of the facial skin, slight irritation of the nasal mucosa) was reported at concentrations of up to 2 ppn (1.64 mg/m3). At higher concentrations, erythema and desquamation of the superficial epithelium of the facial skin was observed. Symptoms of mild irritation resolved with cessation of exposure, erythema persisted for a short period of time.
