Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Mutagenicity in vitro (test Ames): In the absence of the metabolic activation system the test compound did not show a dose dependent influence in the number of revertants in any of the bacterial strains. Also in the presence of metabolic activation system, treatment of cells with Monochloressigsäureethylester did not result in relevant increases in the number of revertant colonies.

Summarizing, it can be stated that Monochloressigsäureethylester is not mutagenic in these bacterial test systems neither with nor without exogenous metabolic activation at the dose levels investigated.

Short description of key information:
Experimental results in vitro (test Ames, OECD 471): ethyl chloroacetate is considered to be not mutagenic.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results from the in vitro mutagenecity assay (Ames test) the substance is not classified for genetic toxicity.
