Guidance on Safe Use

First-aid measures

· General information: Do not leave affected persons unattended.

· After inhalation: Supply fresh air; consult doctor in case of complaints.

· After skin contact:

Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.

If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.

· After eye contact:

Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water.

Seek medical treatment.

· After swallowing:

Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water.

If symptoms persist consult doctor.

NOTE: Never give an unconscious person anything to drink.

Fire-fighting measures

· Suitable extinguishing agents:

The product is not flammable.

Use fire extinguishing methods suitable to surrounding conditions.

During heating or in case of fire poisonous gases are produced.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Ventilation must be sufficient to maintain TLV-TWA below 3 mg/m³, respirable particles, and 10 mg/m³,

inhalable particles [ACGIH recommendation for Particles (Insoluble or poorly soluble). Not Otherwise

The usual precautionary measures are to be adhered to when handling chemicals.

· Respiratory protection: Use suitable respiratory protective device in case of insufficient ventilation.

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation.

Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product/ the preparation/

the chemical mixture.

· Material of gloves

The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of

quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.

· Penetration time of glove material

The exact break trough time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be

observed.

· Eye protection: Safety glasses

· Body protection: Light weight protective clothing

· Limitation and supervision of exposure into the environment

Based on all data available this product is of low hazard for the aquatic environment.

· Risk management measures

Exposure of the eye to dust at concentrations leading to irritation/corrosion during professional/consumer

use of this product can occur. When existing controls (i.e. engineering controls and personal protective

equipment based on classification and labelling of this product as causing serious damage to eyes) are

applied the substance is of no concern for workers.

· Additional information: For powder product: 0.80% by volume of sample was seen to be

< 10.00 μm.

The D10 was < 80.92 μm and D50 < 204.529 μm ( laser

diffraction particle analysis)

For granulated product: 0.8% by volume of sample was seen to

be < 1.0 mm.

The D10 was < 1.76 mm and D50 < 2.62 mm ( PSD analysis)

Stability and reactivity

· Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:

No decomposition if used and stored according to specifications.

Urea (Mixing with urea causes formation of very sticky urea phosphate.)

Disposal considerations

Product:

· Recommendation

Superphosphate is used as fertiliser. However, large spills can kill vegetation. Prevent large quantities from

entering waterways. If incontaminating, sweep up or collect, and reuse as product. If contaminated with

other materials, collect in suitable containers.

Smaller quantities can be disposed of with household waste.

Disposal must be made in accordance with Local Authority requirements.
