Justification for classification or non-classification
No skin irritations were observed in an acute dermal toxicity study performed according to OECD testing guideline 402. Furthermore,
companies involved in the elaboration of the registration dossier confirmed by certificates of their company doctors that in up to 20 years of manufacturing, handling and use of sulphuric acid, compound with graphite just one case of dermal irritation (i.e. reversible within up to three weeks after exposure) occurred due to exposure of workers to this substance.
In an acute eye irritation/corrosion test, performed on rabbits according to OECD testing guideline 405, neither mortalities nor significant clinical signs of toxicity were observed.
Against this background it can be concluded that sulphuric acid, compound with graphite has no classification obligations according to the CLP Regulation.
