Description of key information

The adsorption potential to soil or sediment is low. The mean logKoc = -0.575 (and can not be displayed in the field below).

Additional information

According to column 2 of section 9.3.1. in Annex VIII and section 9.3.3. of REACH "The study need not be conducted if based on the physicochemical properties the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient), or the substance and its degradation products decompose rapidly".

The partition coefficients of L-aspartic acid is low, i.e. log Pow -3.89. L-aspartic acid is readily biodegradable. A relevant adsorption of L-aspartic acid to soil is therefore not expected and a waiving of the study and of further studies on adsorption is justified.

Applying additionally a recognised QSAR models it was calculated that the log Koc of L-aspartic acid is low, i.e. 0.87 with one method and -2.02 with another method, see a separate endpoint record.

The geometric mean of the 2 available Koc was calculated according to the ECHA Guidance Documents on Info Requirements, R.7.1.15.3 to logKoc = -0.575, corresponding to Koc = 0.266. The adsorption potential to soil or sediment is therefore low.
