The melting point of the pigment was estimated by consulting phase diagram that included the characteristic crystalline phase of the pigment and, as far as possible, had the same composition, through this latter point was not always feasible.

The DTA test identified no transition in the 100 -1000 °C range that might indicate pigment fusion, it therefore being inferred that the pigment melting point lies at higher temperatures than the maximum temperature in the range examined. The only detected transition is exothermic and probably corresponds to the oxidation of the small MN2O3 fraction present in the pigment.

Observed peak: exothermic at 945 °C with a peak onset temperature of 884 °C.

Conclusions:
