Additional information

In water, sodium methanolate rapidly hydrolyses to methanol and sodium hydroxide (OECD, 2002). Therefore, the organic degradation product methanol is the relevant substance with regards to bioaccumulation. Sodium hydroxide further dissociates in the environment to sodium and hydroxyl ions and does not pose a risk for bioaccumulation (OECD, 2002). Since the log Pow for methanol is -0.77 (OECD, 2014) the bioaccumulation potential is considered being low and no further studies on bioaccumulation are needed.
