Justification for Read Across

In section 13 a category justification has been attached that explains the rationale for using data on a mixture of Dimethyl Esters (DBE), and dimethyl glutarate, to supplement the available data on dimethyl adipate.

Based on the available data on its fate and behaviour in the environment, reaction mass of dimethyl adipate, dimethyl glutarate and dimethyl succinate is considered to have a low potential of adsorption onto soil and sediments. Therefore, it is expected to mainly partition into the aquatic compartment where it is readily biodegradable. Moreover, it has a potential of biodegradation in the aerobic marine environment. Additionaly, based on its low log Kow, it has a low potential for bioaccumulation.
