Additional information

The ready biodegradability of the test substance was determined in a GLP-compliant study according to OECD Guideline 301A (CG, 1985). The initial test substance concentration was 40 mg/L (based on DOC) was exposed to a mixture of polyvalent bacteria (1,2E+05/mL) from a effluent of a domestic sewage treatment plant for 28 days. Biodegradation of the test substance after 28 days was found to be 0%.

The biological oxygen demand in 5 days (BOD5) was determined in a study performed according to the EEC, Annex V, part C.8 guideline (CG 1987). The testsubstance (1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 mg/L) was exposed to a mixed culture of bacteria (an effluent of a Husman laboratory apparatus) for 5 days. The BOD5 of the testsubstance, corrected by the blank control was 0 mg/g oxygen.

The chemical oxygen demand for the testsubstance was determined in a test following the EEC Directive 79-831, Annex V, C.9.

according to German DIN-Norm 38'409, H-41, 1 (December 1980). The test was carried out correctly and the results are valid. The conclusion is that the COD for the test substance is 1018.7 mg/g O2

These results support the conclusion that the test substance is not readily biodegradable according to the presented data
