Description of key information

The melting point of 2-Methyl-p-phenylenediamine sulfate (Haarbraun) was determined following guidelines OECD 102 (Melting Point / Melting Range). Haarbraun has no melting point at atmospheric pressure. The test material decomposed at a temperature of 240°C.

Additional information

The melting point of 2-Methyl-p-phenylenediamine sulfate (Haarbraun) was determined following guidelines OECD 102 (Melting Point / Melting Range).

Melting point of the test material was determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry. To verify this result an additional experiment with the capillary method was performed.

In both the experiments, decomposition of the test material was observed and its color changed from light pink/white to black.

Haarbraun has no melting point at atmospheric pressure. The test material decomposed at a temperature of 240°C.

This melting point test is classified as acceptable, and satisfies the guideline requirements for the OECD 102.
