Additional information

The substance is not expected to be flammable based on relevant molecular characteristics coupled with information on related substances

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not expected to be flammable based on relevant molecular characteristics (including vapour pressure of 0.329 Pa) coupled with information on related substances. Analogues Maltitol [585-88-6], Glycerol [56-81-5], dipentaerythritol [126-58-9], pentaerythritol [115-77-5], trimethylpropane [77-99-6] are all reported as being non-flammable (OECD Toolbox v3.1). These related analogues substantiate the expectation that xylitol will not be flammable. Therefore, the test substance is not classified according to EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
