Additional information

Short-term toxicity to fish

In the Key study Fatty acids, C16-18-, reaction products with diethanolamine was found to cause no toxic effects to Zebrafish after 96 hours when tested with the water accommodated fraction with a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L. The LL50 after 96 hours is > 100 mg/L All effect levels are based on the nominal loading level of the test item.

In a supporting study the LC50of the test item is estimated to be greater than the applied nominal test concentration of 100 mg/L.

Long-term toxicity to fish

Waiving according to "column 2" in Annex IX of REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006 (CSA does not indicate need for further investigations)

Short-term toxicity to daphnia

At the water accommodated fraction (WAF) with a nominal loading of 100 mg/L of the test item Fatty acids, C16-18-, reaction products with diethanolamine, no effects were observed on Daphnia magna.

Long-term toxicity to daphnia

Waiving according to "column 2" in Annex IX of REGULATION (EC) No 1907/2006 (CSA does not indicate need for further investigations)

Toxicity to aquatic algae

In this study caused slightly inhibition on the growth rate and yield of the freshwater green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus was found after 72 hours exposure to the test item Fatty acids, C16-18-, reaction products with diethanolamine. All effect values given are based on the nominal loading level of the test item Fatty acids, C16-18-, reaction products with diethanolamine.

Toxicity to microorganisms

The NOEC of the test item Fatty acids, C16-18-, reaction products with diethanolamine is

1000 mg/L. Fatty acids, C16-18-, reaction products with diethanolamine caused no inhibiting

effects on activated sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant at the limit concentration of 1000 mg/L.
