Description of key information

Short term toxicity testing was conducted with tripropylene glycol butyl ether to the freshwater cladoceran, Daphnia magna, under GLP according to OECD guideline 202.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Two studies were identified for short-term exposure of DOWANOL TPnB (Tripropylene n-butyl ether) to invertebrates. Both studies were conducted under GLP and according to OECD guideline 202. The study from BASF (2002) includes analytical monitoring and the EC50 (48 hours) was reported to be greater than the highest dose tested (100 mg/l). In a study conducted at Dow (1987), Daphnia magna were exposed up to 1000 mg TPnB/L. No significant immobilization was observed after 48 hours. The NOEC (No Observed Effect Concentration) for mobility was determined to be 1000 mg/L.
