Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
method to determine freezing temperature
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -25 °C
Remarks on result:
other: The test substance clearly flows under its own weight at -25°C.
Conclusions:
The freezing point of the test substance is less than -25°C
Executive summary:

The freezing point of the test substance was determined by observing the flow characteristic of the test substance at -25°C. A small amount of the test substance was placed in the bottom of a jar and cooled to -40°C. The jar was then placed on its side in a -25°C chamber for three days. Observations were made before and after the three-day period. The freezing point of the test substance is less than -25°C.

Description of key information

Equivalent to OECD Guideline 102

The freezing point is less than -25ºC

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-25 °C
